COLUMBUS — Gov. John R. Kasich last month signed legislation which allows food manufacturers to purchase beverage alcohol in bulk at wholesale prices, rather than at retail prices and in smaller containers.

Senate Bill 73 allows a manufacturer of nonbeverage food products to purchase beer and intoxicating liquor at wholesale from A and B liquor permit holders under terms to be prescribed by the Division of Liquor Control. The bill prohibits the division from increasing the cost of such purchases for qualifying businesses.
