COLUMBUS — Beer would pack more punch under a provision included in the Ohio Senate’s version of the state’s $55.7 billion, two-year budget.

Language in the budget, approved earlier this month 23-10 by the Senate, also would expand sampling opportunities for contract liquor agencies.

As defined in the budget bill, beer sold in Ohio could contain up to 18 percent alcohol by volume, an increase from the current 12 percent limit.
