CINCINNATI — Eleven students who are children of Heidelberg Distributing Co. employees each received a $1,500 award from the 2011 Albert W. Vontz Jr. Scholarship program to pursue a college degree or post-secondary education.

Winners are judged on their commitment to community service rather than grade point average or academic accomplishments.

The scholarship was established in 2008 when the company celebrated its 70th anniversary. It honors Albert W. Vontz Jr., son of Heidelberg’s founder, who supported local colleges and the pursuit of higher education.
