OMVI DEATHS - Alcohol-related traffic death rates increased or held steady in 19 states between 1998 and 2002, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The report calculated the fatality rate per 100 million miles driven. Ohio's fatality rate was .52 in 2002, down slightly from .51 in 1998, but a 61 percent decline from 1.35 in 1982.
