RESTAURANT PERFORMANCE INDEX

Washington - As the calendar turned to 2004, the outlook for restaurant industry growth remained strong, according to the National Restaurant Association's comprehensive index of restaurant activity. The association's Restaurant Performance Index - a monthly composite index that tracks the health of and outlook for the U.S. restaurant industry - remained steady in December from its strong November level.
