Time To Send Taft A Message About Taxes

Gov. Bob Taft's budget proposes to double the tax on wine, beer and premixed alcoholic beverages, but does not propose any tax increase on distilled spirits. The governor is proposing to raise the wine tax to 11.4 cents per gallon from the current rate of 5.7 cents and beer to 36 cents per gallon from 18 cents.
