Kentucky native Tom Bulleit founded Bulleit Bourbon in 1987, resurrecting a 150-year-old family tradition that made his great-great-grandfather, Augustus Bulleit, a successful distiller in the Louisville area until his death in 1860. Bulleit calls for a traditional but expensive high-rye mash bill, and is aged six years in charred oak barrels to produce a rich, subtly complex flavor profile.
