Rule 50 Governs Happy Hour, Other Serving Promotions

Maintaining an atmosphere of responsible consumption is an important issue for permit holders and lawmakers. Therefore, the Ohio General Assembly has authorized the Liquor Control Commission to enact regulations promoting the “maintenance of public decency, sobriety and good order” in any place issued a liquor permit. In furtherance of this charge, the Liquor Commission has promulgated, and the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Investigative Unit enforces, Rule 50, which limits happy hours and retail price reductions.
