Spending work days sampling and brewing to create the perfect batch of liquor may sound ideal to some, but those in the business know that starting a craft distillery means hard work, long days and a lot of wading through the legal process to get the proper licensing.

Still, the growing number of small-scale spirits producers say their products are making an impact on the industry.

Jim Finke, CEO and co-founder of Buckeye Vodka in Dayton, said that like craft beer, craft distilleries offer a unique product to their customers.
