CANTON — A game machine must be labeled a slot machine and cannot be considered a skill-based amusement machine under the Ohio Revised Code if it pays out cash, according to a recent 5th District Court of Appeals decision.

The three-judge appellate panel maintained that charges against a Newark woman alleging she was improperly operating two skill-game parlors must be dismissed because her parlors utilized slot machines. The charges accused her of being in violation of a section of the revised code governing skill-based games.
