Extensive Tax Policy Proposals Included In Budget

Every two years, the governor introduces a budget that must be passed by the General Assembly. Traditionally, the governor has introduced his proposed budget in February (unless newly elected, at which point the governor has until March) and the legislature passes the balanced budget no later than June 30 so that it can be effective for the state’s fiscal year beginning July 1.
