COLUMBUS — A former state senator was named recently to the Ohio Liquor Control Commission, while Gov. John Kasich last month also named a new director of the Ohio Department of Commerce.

James E. Carnes was named a member of the Liquor Commission for a term ending Feb. 8, 2019. He replaced Michael J. Shaheen, an appointee of former Gov. Ted Strickland, whose term expired on Feb. 26.
