COLUMBUS — A pair of state lawmakers have introduced legislation to prevent Anheuser-Busch from acquiring a Lima beer wholesaler before a new law prohibiting such an acquisition takes effect.

According to the Lima News, Anheuser-Busch recently announced plans to purchase C&G Distributing Co. Inc. in Lima. The announcement came just weeks after Gov. John Kasich signed into law Senate Bill 48, a measure which prohibits brewers from awarding a beer franchise or territory to themselves or a subsidiary, as well as from acquiring a current wholesaler or franchise.
