WASHINGTON — Federal regulators last month issued a ruling allowing beverage alcohol companies to provide consumers with nutritional information on labels and in advertising.

The May 29 ruling by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau allows optional “Serving Facts” statements that include the serving size; the number of servings per container; the number of calories; and the grams of carbohydrates, protein and fat per serving. The “Serving Facts” statement also may include the alcohol content per serving.
