FRANKFORT, Ky. — Elmer T. Lee, master distiller emeritus for Buffalo Trace Distillery, died July 16. He was 93.

As plant manager for the George T. Stagg Distillery, Lee introduced the world’s first single barrel bourbon, Blanton’s in 1984. Although retiring in 1985, he continued to serve as an ambassador for Buffalo Trace, and in 1986 he was honored with his very own single barrel bourbon, Elmer T. Lee.
