In 2006, Ohio voters passed a ballot initiative that prohibited proprietors of public places of employment from allowing smoking in their establishments. This, of course, included privately owned bars. The Ohio Department of Health and its designees are charged with the enforcement of the Smoke Free Workplace Act.
