Prohibition's Legacy Lingers 80 Years Later

This month marks the 80th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition.

The ratification of the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution by Ohio, Pennsylvania and Utah on Dec. 5, 1933, put an end to the “noble experiment” which was brought on by ratification of the 18th Amendment. The amendment went into effect on Dec. 15, but most people didn’t wait that long to start the celebration.
