CLEVELAND — Members of the Ohio wine and spirits industry gathered last month to toast the career of Robert “Bob” Manchick, chairman and former owner of Paramount Distillers Inc., who is retiring after 61 years in the beverage alcohol business.

Manchick joined Paramount — then owned by Robert Gottesman and Lew Zeller — in February 1967 as low proof sales manager and upstate New York sales representative. When Zeller died in 1971, Manchick became the company’s sales manager.
