Flavored Spirits Still Popular Among Mixologists, Chefs
The flavored spirits craze is still going strong. It’s spread to all categories of liquor and grown in popularity among mixologists and chefs alike.
Still, Serralles Midwest Regional Sales Manager John Meisler says the idea of adding flavor to spirits isn’t a new one.
“It’s more of a throwback to a time when alcohol was made much more crudely and required flavors to just be palatable,” he said, noting that adding a “spoonful of sugar” to medicinal alcohol helped to coin the phrase later popularized by Mary Poppins.
