Ohio Wine Industry Has Come A Long Way

When the first “Ohio Wine Week” was declared in June 1979, only 13 wineries were sparsely scattered around the state. On the Lake Erie Islands and in nearby Sandusky, in Morrow, near Madison and Conneaut and south around Cincinnati, these pioneers, with the help of researchers at Ohio State University, determined there was a need to share the story of wines grown and offered that were different from the juice and jelly varieties which first emerged when Prohibition ended.
