JACK’S BARRELS — The maker of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey this month opened a new cooperage in Alabama, about 60 miles south of the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tenn. According to the Associated Press, the cooperage in Trinity, Ala., has the capacity to make about 700 white oak barrels per day from locally milled staves and will employ about 200. Jack Daniel’s sold 11.5 million cases of its flagship brand last year, a 5 percent increase from 2012.
